Udaipur: A meeting of the Local Centre Committee of The Institution of Engineers (India), Udaipur Local Centre, was held on June 15, during which Er. Piyush Jawaria was elected as Chairman and Er. Ramesh Chandra Purohit as Honorary Secretary for the term 2026–2028.
The Institution of Engineers (India) is the country's premier multidisciplinary professional engineering body. Established in 1920 and granted a Royal Charter in 1935, the Institution has played a significant role over the past century in promoting engineering education, dissemination of technical knowledge, research, innovation, professional excellence, and nation-building. With numerous State and Local Centres across India, as well as centres overseas, the Institution provides a common platform for engineers, academicians, industry professionals, and students.
Over the years, the Udaipur Local Centre has successfully organized a wide range of technical lectures, seminars, workshops, industrial visits, student activities, environmental conservation initiatives, and programs related to sustainable development goals. The Centre has made notable contributions in fostering collaboration among engineers, industries, and academic institutions in the region.
Expressing gratitude to the members for their confidence in him, the newly elected Chairman, Er. Piyush Jawaria, stated that he is committed to taking the Centre’s technical and professional activities to greater heights, strengthening industry-academia collaboration, and creating more opportunities for young engineers.
The newly elected Honorary Secretary, Er. Ramesh Chandra Purohit, said that he would work with dedication to expand the Centre’s activities, enhance member participation, and further strengthen the dignity, professional values, and social responsibilities associated with the engineering profession.
