Udaipur Raises a Strong Voice Against Drug Abuse

Udaipur: With the objective of taking the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” (Drug-Free India Campaign) to every section of society, the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment organized an inspiring awareness programme in Udaipur.

On the occasion, Rajasthan’s Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Avinash Gehlot, flagged off a Drug De-Addiction Awareness Vehicle launched by Arogya Seva Sansthan and unveiled a Drug-Free Awareness Poster prepared by Prayag Seva Sansthan.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Gehlot described substance abuse as a serious social evil that weakens both society and families. He stated that addiction adversely affects the future of young people and pushes many families into distress. Calling upon citizens, social organizations, and youth to actively participate in the campaign, he emphasized that the dream of a drug-free society can only be achieved through collective efforts.

During the programme, Girish Bhatnagar, Joint Director of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, highlighted the department’s ongoing initiatives and informed participants that a “Drug-Free Fortnight” is being observed across the district from June 17 to June 26.

He explained that various awareness activities, rallies, interactive sessions, and public outreach campaigns are being conducted during this period to educate people about the harmful effects of substance abuse.

Bhatnagar further stated that the awareness vehicle flagged off during the event will travel across urban and rural areas of Udaipur district, spreading information about the social, economic, and health-related consequences of drug addiction. The awareness poster will also play a significant role in disseminating the campaign’s message to a wider audience.

The programme was attended by departmental officials, representatives of Arogya Seva Sansthan and Prayag Seva Sansthan, as well as several distinguished citizens. At the conclusion of the event, participants collectively pledged to work towards making Udaipur and the entire state of Rajasthan drug-free, healthy, and prosperous.
