Udaipur: The 12th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm across Udaipur district on Sunday. Under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” yoga protocol sessions were organized throughout the district, drawing enthusiastic participation from public representatives, government officials, senior citizens, and members of the general public.
The district-level main event was held at Maharana Bhupal Stadium, where thousands of participants performed the Common Yoga Protocol collectively. The City of Lakes was immersed in a vibrant yogic atmosphere as people of all age groups came together to promote the message of healthy living through yoga.
The program was attended by Tribal Area Development Minister Mr. Babulal Kharadi, District In-charge Secretary T. Ravikant, Member of Parliament Dr. Mannalal Rawat, Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain, Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, Divisional Commissioner Ms. Pragya Keval Ramani, Inspector General of Police Gaurav Srivastava, District Collector Gaurav Agrawal, Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan, social worker Gajpal Singh Rathore, Pushkar Teli, and several other public representatives and senior officials. All participants performed yoga and encouraged citizens to make regular yoga practice an integral part of their daily lives.
The program began with a welcome address by Additional Director (Ayurveda) Dr. Mahesh Kumar Gupta and Nodal Officer Dr. Bhanu Kumar Jain. The dignitaries inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Assistant Nodal Officer and Convener Vaidya Shobhalal Audichya briefed participants on the yoga protocol and program schedule.
The yoga session commenced at exactly 7:00 a.m. in accordance with the prescribed protocol. It began with loosening and relaxation exercises, followed by standing and seated yoga postures. Dr. Shubha Surana of Pacific College conducted the proceedings, explaining the physical and mental benefits of each yoga practice and highlighting the precautions participants should observe before performing yoga.
The event witnessed the participation of ADM City Jitendra Ojha, Girwa SDM Avula Sai Krishna, officials from various government departments, representatives from the police, medical and health services, education department, women and child development department, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, sports department, UDA, Municipal Corporation, NCC, Scouts, members of the public, and a large number of senior citizens.
During the event, a special address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of International Yoga Day was broadcast at the venue. In his message, he described yoga as a cornerstone of the Indian way of life and encouraged citizens to incorporate yoga into their daily routines.
Addressing the concluding session, Tribal Area Development Minister Mr. Babulal Kharadi described yoga as India’s ancient and invaluable heritage, which has now been embraced by people around the world. He stated that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a means of achieving harmony between the body, mind, and soul.
He further noted that, through the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, International Yoga Day has evolved into a global mass movement. Referring to this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” he said it conveys the message that regular yoga practice enables individuals to remain healthy, active, and self-reliant even in advancing years. He urged all citizens to make yoga a part of their daily lives and contribute to building a healthier and more prosperous India.
At the conclusion of the event, Minister Babulal Kharadi and other dignitaries honored Assistant Nodal Officer Dr. Shobhalal Audichya, program conductor Dr. Shubhra Surana, young participants Suryash and Pranav who demonstrated the yoga protocol on stage, and all yoga instructors by presenting them with traditional ceremonial shawls in recognition of their contributions.
