Udaipur: Rajasthan Agriculture Commissioner Naresh Kumar Goyal commended the research excellence and farmer-oriented innovations of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, during his visit to the university. He reviewed the progress of various projects being implemented under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) at the university campus.
The review meeting was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pratap Singh, while the programme was coordinated under the guidance of Director of Research Dr. R. L. Soni. Welcoming the Agriculture Commissioner and senior officials from the Agriculture Department, Dr. Soni highlighted the university’s ongoing research initiatives and innovative efforts aimed at benefiting the farming community.
A detailed presentation on the university’s major research achievements was delivered by Divisional Director of Research Dr. S. S. Lakhawat. He showcased the development of improved crop varieties, natural resource management practices, organic farming initiatives, mushroom production technologies, agricultural mechanization, and innovative techniques designed to enhance farmers’ income. He also presented the current status, achievements, and future roadmap of the RKVY projects.
Impressed by the presentation, Agriculture Commissioner Naresh Kumar Goyal highly appreciated the dedicated efforts of the university’s scientists in advancing agriculture and improving farmers’ livelihoods. He also praised the value-added food products developed under the RKVY projects and expressed appreciation for the initiatives encouraging rural women to adopt these products as entrepreneurial ventures. He remarked that MPUAT’s research is making a significant contribution to the agricultural development of Rajasthan.
Following the meeting, the Agriculture Commissioner visited several research and production units of the university, including the Mushroom Production and Research Unit and the Natural Farming Centre. He lauded the research and technological advancements being carried out at these centres, stating that the university is developing practical technologies tailored to the needs of farmers.
He assured the university of continued support from the Agriculture Department to strengthen its research and development activities.
The meeting was attended by the university’s deans, directors, heads of departments, scientists, coordinators of RKVY projects, and senior officials from the Agriculture Department, including Additional Director Dr. Niranjan Singh Rathore, Joint Director Dr. Sudhir Verma, and other senior officers.
