Quality Data Essential for Effective Planning and Development: District Collector

Sri Ganganagar: The Department of Economics and Statistics organized a district-level programme at the district headquarters on Monday (June 29, 2026) to mark the 20th National Statistics Day. The event was inaugurated by District Collector Dr. Amit Kumar Yadav, who lit the ceremonial lamp.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Amit Kumar Yadav emphasized the importance of accurate and reliable data, stating that quality data is the foundation of effective planning and sustainable development. He highlighted the vital role of statistical information in formulating evidence-based policies and ensuring efficient implementation of government programmes.

Special Guest Mr. Nirbhay Singh, Assistant Professor (Economics), spoke about the close relationship between economics and statistics and underscored the significance of statistics in policymaking, research, and development. Other distinguished guests also shared their views on the occasion.

Mr. Rahul Kumar Bagadia, Assistant Director of the National Statistical Office, delivered a keynote address on the significance of National Statistics Day. He stressed the need for reliable and high-quality statistical data and highlighted its crucial role in policy formulation and developmental planning.

As part of the programme, an economics-based quiz competition was organized for school students, while a statistics quiz was conducted for officials and staff of the Department of Economics and Statistics. Officers and employees who demonstrated outstanding performance and made notable contributions in the field of statistics were honoured with certificates of appreciation.

Deputy Director of the Department of Economics and Statistics, Mrs. Saroj Moond, expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, participants, and officials who contributed to the successful organization of the event.

Among those present were Assistant Collector Ms. Swati Gupta, Deputy Director Mrs. Preetibala, Assistant Director of the Department of Women Empowerment Mr. Vijay Kumar, and other officials.
