LIEUTENANT GENERAL MANJINDER SINGH RELINQUISHES COMMAND OF SOUTH WESTERN COMMAND, JAIPUR

Jaipur : Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh relinquished Command of Jaipur based Sapta Shakti Command on 30 June 2026 and superannuated after an illustrious and distinguished military career spanning nearly four decades. On this occasion, the General Officer paid tribute to the Braveheart at the Prerna Sthal at Jaipur Military Station.

    The General Officer is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He was commissioned into 19 MADRAS in December 1986. Over his extensive service, he has the distinction of tenating important and challenging command and staff appointments in Jammu & Kashmir and on the Western Front. The General Officer commanded his Battalion in an intense Counter Insurgency environment in J&K, an Infantry Brigade at the Line of Control, an Infantry Division as part of Desert Strike Corps and a Corps deployed along the Line of Control in Counter Insurgency Operations in J&K. Prior to taking over command of South Western Command, the General Officer was General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Army Training Command, Shimla. The officer has shouldered several important and strategic staff appointments including Col GS (IW) in a Corps deployed in an intense Counter Insurgency environment in J&K, Col GS (Ops/ Air), BGS (Ops), MGGS (Ops) and Chief of Staff in Command Headquarters. He has also served as the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Policy, Planning & Force Development). His instructional appointments include Platoon Commander & Instructor Cl C at Indian Military Academy and DS Coord at Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT), Bhutan. He has also been the Colonel of the Madras Regiment since 01 January 2021.

    For his exemplary leadership, devotion to duty towards the Nation and illustrious contribution to the service, Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh was awarded with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal in 2026, the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2024, the Yudh Seva Medal in 2015 and the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2019.

    Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh took over the reins of Sapta Shakti Command on 01 July 2024. During his tenure, the Sapta Shakti Command imbibed the latest operational doctrine s, achieving a high level of synergy. The Command developed innovative techniques, tactics, as well as procedures to enhance operational readiness. Most notably, his strategic guidance during Operation SINDOOR was instrumental in evolving the formation into a modern, lethal, mission-ready force.

    Upon relinquishing Command, Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh extended his gratitude and warm greetings to all ranks of Sapta Shakti Command, Veer Naris, Veterans, Defence Civilian employees and their families. He exhorted all ranks to live upto the Sapta Shakti Command motto of ‘Forever Victorious’ and contribute towards the society and nation building.
