###Paras Health Udaipur Stresses ‘Golden Hour’ as Key to Saving Polytrauma Patients

Udaipur, Paras Health Udaipur on Tuesday highlighted the life-saving importance of the “Golden Hour” in the treatment of polytrauma patients, stressing that timely medical intervention and coordinated multidisciplinary care can significantly improve survival rates and long-term recovery following major accidents.

The hospital organized a press conference where a panel of leading specialists discussed the complexities of treating patients with multiple life-threatening injuries and shared recent advances in emergency and trauma care.

The expert panel included Dr. Nitin Kaushik (Anesthesiology), Dr. S. R. Chaudhary (Neurosurgery), Dr. Rahul Khanna (Orthopedics), Dr. C. K. Ameta (Director & Head, Orthopedics), Dr. Ashish Singhal (Orthopedics), Dr. Tarun Mathur (Neurology), Dr. Manish Kulshreshtha (Neurology), Dr. Ajit Singh (Director & Head, Neurosurgery), Dr. Abhishek Vyas (General & Laparoscopic Surgery), and Dr. Sumit Singhal (Plastic Surgery).

Addressing the media, the specialists explained that polytrauma refers to a condition in which a patient sustains multiple severe injuries simultaneously, most commonly in high-speed road accidents, falls from heights, and industrial accidents. Such patients often suffer injuries to the brain, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and limbs, making treatment highly complex and time-sensitive.

The doctors emphasized that successful management of polytrauma requires seamless coordination among emergency physicians, trauma surgeons, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiologists, critical care specialists, and rehabilitation experts. They said that rapid diagnosis, adherence to standardized trauma protocols, timely surgical intervention, and comprehensive treatment during the Golden Hour—the first 60 minutes after a traumatic injury—are critical to improving patient survival and functional recovery.

Speaking on the occasion, Anubhav Sukhwani, Facility Director, Paras Health Udaipur, said trauma care is a race against time where every second matters. He noted that effective polytrauma management depends not only on advanced medical technology but also on close coordination among specialists from different disciplines. He added that Paras Health Udaipur is committed to delivering comprehensive trauma care through experienced clinical teams, modern infrastructure, and evidence-based treatment protocols while creating greater public awareness about the importance of seeking immediate medical attention after serious accidents.

The experts also expressed concern over the increasing number of road accidents in India and urged the public to strictly follow road safety norms, seek emergency medical assistance without delay, and ensure that critically injured patients are transported to a well-equipped trauma centre at the earliest. According to the panel, integrated trauma systems supported by multidisciplinary expertise, advanced diagnostics, and critical care infrastructure play a vital role in reducing mortality and preventing long-term disability.

Reaffirming its commitment to advanced emergency and trauma care, Paras Health Udaipur stated that patients with multiple severe injuries have significantly better chances of survival and recovery when they receive prompt treatment at a specialized trauma centre. The hospital also appealed to the public to seek immediate medical help after any major accident, emphasizing that timely expert care can save lives and minimize the risk of permanent disability.
