Udaipur: A programme was organised at the Animal Husbandry Training Institute on the occasion of National Doctors' Day, highlighting the vital role of veterinary professionals in protecting both animal and public health.
Chartered Accountant Satish Jain attended the event as the Chief Guest. He was welcomed by Dinesh Gurjar and Vijay Khatik.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Director Dr. Dwarka Prasad Gupta said that veterinarians have a dual responsibility—not only to ensure the health and well-being of animals but also to protect human health. He explained that several diseases can be transmitted from animals to humans through direct contact or the consumption of animal products. Therefore, veterinarians play a crucial role in preventing zoonotic diseases by maintaining healthy livestock and ensuring that animal-derived products are safe, hygienic, and of high quality.
During the programme, Dr. Padma Meel delivered an informative session on diseases that can spread from animals to humans, while Dr. Om Prakash Sahu spoke about the importance of producing safe and healthy animal products.
The event underscored the significant contribution of veterinary professionals in promoting public health alongside animal welfare.
