*Reception by various organizations of the Rajasthani diaspora*
At a 'Meet and Greet' event organized by the Rajasthan Forum at the ITC Royal Bengal in Kolkata on Thursday, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani was accorded a grand reception. Representatives from over a dozen organizations linked to Rajasthan—active in various sectors across West Bengal—honored him by presenting turbans, floral garlands, stoles, and shawls, as well as mementos. Speaking on the occasion, Devnani called upon the Rajasthani diaspora to play an active role in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047' (Developed India @ 2047). He remarked that India is, and will always remain, a 'Jagat Guru' (world leader/teacher).
Devnani noted that until recently, the situation in West Bengal was concerning; industries were moving out, and an atmosphere of fear prevailed among the people. However, amidst the changing circumstances, enthusiasm and confidence are now clearly visible on the faces of the local people, and West Bengal is moving towards progress.
He stated that in this changing landscape, the Rajasthani diaspora should forge new avenues for the progress and advancement of both Rajasthan and West Bengal.
Speaker Devnani observed that wherever people from Rajasthan go, they carve out a distinct identity through their hard work. He remarked that he sees a 'mini-Rajasthan' in Kolkata today. He expressed his hope that the Rajasthani diaspora would continue to progress and prosper while never forgetting their birthplace, Rajasthan.
Devnani urged the diaspora to stay connected with Rajasthan and make continuous efforts to strengthen their roots.
During the event, Devnani emphasized the need to preserve and promote Rajasthan's rich art, culture, and folk traditions. He stated that the Rajasthani diaspora serves as a powerful representative of Rajasthan's cultural identity across the globe, and connecting the new generation to their cultural heritage is the need of the hour. Devnani highlighted that Rajasthan is currently making steady progress across all sectors and encouraged the diaspora to become partners in the development of their motherland.
Several dignitaries attended the event, including West Bengal Legislative Assembly members Roopa Ganguly and Vijay Ojha; former Deputy Mayor of Kolkata Meena Devi Purohit; industrialist and Forum Co-Chairman Harimohan Bangur; and cultural expert Sandeep Bhutoria. The occasion was graced by the presence of prominent citizens—including Kolkata Municipal Corporation Councilor Meena Devi Purohit—and representatives from various social and religious organizations.
