Udaipur: People's Media Theatre staged the comedy-drama Papa Bhag Gaye at Darpan Auditorium, Shilpgram, Udaipur, on Sunday. Packed with humor and satire, the play not only entertained the audience with laughter but also encouraged them to reflect on changing family relationships and the emotional needs of elderly parents.
Dr. Ashwin M. Dalvi, Director of the West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC), Udaipur, said that the performance was organized under the Centre's Rangshala theatre series and presented by People's Media Theatre, Jaipur.
The story revolves around Amar Narayan Chaturvedi, who leaves for a holiday in the hills with Rozi Singh Ahluwalia. When his children, Vibhuti and Nandini, learn about his sudden departure, they become anxious and set out in search of their father. During their journey, they meet the watchman, Prem Bahadur Sand, whose amusing anecdotes about Amar and Rozi create a series of hilarious moments that keep the audience thoroughly entertained.
In the concluding scenes, Amar Narayan Chaturvedi reminds his children that just as the younger generation wishes to live life with freedom and independence, elderly parents also deserve the opportunity to spend a few moments of happiness and peace according to their own wishes. This heartfelt message resonated deeply with the audience, prompting them to rethink family values and intergenerational relationships.
The play featured impressive performances by Nitin Saini, Pratibha Pareek, Madhav Sharma, Pawan Saini, Muskan Bhardwaj, Shalini Sharma, and Jatin Pareek.
