Strengthening Rural Health: Successful Family Adoption Programme Visits
udaipur : The Department of Community Medicine, Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences, Sai Tirupati University, Umarda, Udaipur, successfully completed three visits under the Family Adoption Programme (FAP) in the villages of Dhol ki Pati, Lakadwas and Umarda. This initiative, aligned with the vision of the National Medical Commission, aims to strengthen the bond between medical students and rural families while promoting community-oriented healthcare.
During these visits, faculty members, interns, and undergraduate students engaged directly with households to assess health needs, provide counseling, and deliver health education on key topics such as immunization, nutrition, sanitation, maternal and child health, and environmental awareness. The programme emphasized preventive healthcare and encouraged active participation of families in improving their well-being.
The visits also facilitated house-to-house health assessments, identification of local health challenges, and dissemination of practical solutions. Students gained valuable exposure to rural health realities, enhancing their understanding of social determinants of health and fostering empathy towards underserved populations.
The Department expressed gratitude to Sarpanch shree (Dhol ki Pati – Puranmal ji Gameti, Lakadwas – Mrs. Nirmaladevi ji, Umarda – Mr. Gopal ji Meena) and the villagers for their cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to continue such community-based interventions. The successful completion of these three visits marks a significant step in advancing the objectives of the Family Adoption Programme and nurturing socially responsible medical professionals.
The entire program was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Dilip Kumar Pareek, Head of the Department of Community Medicine. All faculty members and departmental staff actively participated and made significant contributions, ensuring the success of this initiative.
