###Seminar Marks Birth Anniversary of Physicist Daulat Singh Kothari

UDAIPUR, India  — A seminar on the theme "Ethics in Practice: The Key to Contemporary Challenges" was organized on Monday to commemorate the birth anniversary of eminent scientist and educationist Dr. Daulat Singh Kothari. Speakers emphasized that India has long been a cradle of knowledge where learning has traditionally been linked with righteous action for the welfare of humanity.

The participants observed that growing materialism and the erosion of human values have created a moral crisis in society. They stressed that alongside scientific and technological advancement, equal importance must be given to the development of ethical values and self-awareness.

Presiding over the seminar, Mohanlal Sukhadia University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kailash Daga said Dr. Kothari's contributions to education remain unparalleled. He noted that the Indian knowledge tradition promotes harmony, tolerance and ethical conduct, making it more relevant than ever in the modern world. Referring to the principles of Acharya Chanakya, he emphasized the need for ethical governance and administration.

Chief Guest and Udaipur MLA Tarachand Jain described Dr. Kothari as one of Rajasthan's greatest intellectuals and a source of national pride. He said Dr. Kothari demonstrated that science should serve peace, non-violence and the welfare of humanity, and that his ideas continue to inspire both society and academia.

Keynote speaker Prof. Neeraj Sharma, Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, said the Indian knowledge tradition integrates knowledge, science, ethics and action into a unified educational philosophy. He explained the concepts of karma, akarma, vikarma and sadkarma, stating that education remains incomplete without the holistic development of human consciousness.

Head of the Department of Physics at Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Prof. K. B. Joshi, highlighted Dr. Kothari's pioneering contributions to the field of physics. He said Dr. Kothari played a transformative role in advancing scientific research and higher education in India, and that his scientific vision continues to inspire young researchers.

Shantipeeth founder Anant Ganesh Trivedi said Dr. Kothari never viewed science and human values as contradictory but regarded them as complementary. He emphasized that scientific progress must be accompanied by self-reflection and spiritual awareness, warning that humanity's future depends on maintaining that balance. He also advocated incorporating the study of the Upanishads into mainstream education.

Dr. P. S. Talesara, Executive President of Shantipeeth and head of Pyrotech International, urged young people to draw inspiration from Dr. Kothari's life of scientific excellence, discipline and national service. He encouraged the youth to combine scientific thinking with ethical values in contributing to nation-building.

Several other speakers addressed the gathering, including former Udaipur Municipal Commissioner and artist Dinesh Kothari, former Chief Engineer Gyan Prakash Soni, educationist Dr. Paritosh Duggad, advocate Samarth Lal Sahu, Dr. Hemlata, former Forest Department official Laxmikant Joshi, and Mangilal Meghwal. Students from the college also participated actively in the seminar.

The program began with floral tributes to Dr. Kothari's portrait.

During the event, Trivedi requested MLA Tarachand Jain to initiate the process of naming the planetarium located behind Shilpgram after Dr. Daulat Singh Kothari. Jain assured the gathering that appropriate steps would be taken.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Jitendra, who also served as the master of ceremonies.
