Rajasthan to Conduct Statewide Digital Survey of OBC Families from July 10 to 23

Jaipur: The Rajasthan State Other Backward Classes (Political Representation) Commission will conduct a statewide digital survey of Other Backward Class (OBC) families from July 10 to July 23, 2026, as part of a contemporaneous empirical study on OBC political representation in local bodies.

The survey is being undertaken in compliance with the directions of the Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 278/2022 (Suresh Mahajan vs. State of Madhya Pradesh & Others) and the references assigned to the Commission by the Rajasthan Government.

According to Vikram Rathore, Public Relations Officer of the OBC Commission, the survey will be carried out across all districts of Rajasthan through the 'Rajdhara Survey Mobile App'. The exercise aims to collect updated and factual data on the social, educational, economic, demographic, and political representation status of OBC communities in local bodies, enabling the Commission to submit scientifically backed and legally compliant recommendations to the State Government.

The survey will be conducted entirely through digital means. Around 51,168 enumerators have been deployed to visit households and collect information using the mobile application. The Commission will monitor the entire process online to ensure accuracy, transparency, and data reliability.

To facilitate smooth implementation, the Commission has already trained 82 district-level nodal and assistant nodal officers, 765 block-level nodal and assistant nodal officers, approximately 1,428 master trainers, and other officials through video conferencing on July 7, 2026. Enumerators have also received administrative support and technical training on the Rajdhara Survey Mobile App in coordination with district and block administrations.

The Commission has requested all District Collectors, local bodies, and concerned departments to extend full cooperation for the survey. Additional District Collectors (ADMs) have been designated as district coordination officers, while enumerators will receive the necessary administrative and technical support at the field level.

Appealing to OBC families across the state, the Commission urged them to provide accurate, complete, and authentic information to the survey teams. It also called upon recognized political parties, elected representatives, social organizations, and citizens to actively support the initiative.

The Commission expressed confidence that the statewide survey will generate objective and reliable data, forming the basis for transparent, evidence-based, and legally sustainable recommendations on OBC political representation in local self-government institutions in accordance with the Supreme Court's directives.
