Union Minister Durga Das Uikey Highlights Tribal Heritage and Inclusive Development During Udaipur Visit

Udaipur: Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durga Das Uikey participated in a divisional-level Tribal Youth Workshop organised jointly by the Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRI) at Mohanlal Sukhadia University's Bappa Rawal Auditorium on Sunday. Addressing the seminar on “12 Years of Trust, Development and Tribal Welfare,” he stressed the need to preserve India's rich tribal heritage and strengthen social harmony.

Uikey said tribal society has deep historical roots dating back to the Rig Vedic period and urged the younger generation to understand the nation's glorious past while remaining vigilant against forces that seek to divide society. He highlighted the Centre's commitment to tribal welfare under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing initiatives such as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS), PM SHRI Schools, the Dharti Aaba Scheme, and PM JANMAN, which aim to improve education, infrastructure, and living standards in tribal regions.

State Tribal Area Development Minister Babulal Kharadi said the Rajasthan government is actively preserving tribal culture and traditions while promoting education and employment opportunities for tribal youth. Lok Sabha MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat also addressed the gathering, highlighting the growing recognition of tribal identity and heritage in recent years.

Later, the Union Minister met representatives of tribal social organisations at the TRI campus to gather suggestions for future policy initiatives. He reiterated that the government remains committed to achieving balanced development while safeguarding India's cultural heritage.

During the visit, Uikey also participated in a plantation drive under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" and "Hariyalo Rajasthan" campaigns, alongside senior government officials, public representatives, and tribal community leaders.
