Udaipur: Revered Jain monks Muni Niragratna Suriwar Maharaj, Muni Sumatichandra Sagar Maharaj, and Muni Sheetalchandra Sagar Maharaj were accorded a ceremonial welcome during a Padharamani programme hosted by former councillor Ajay Porwal and his family at Panchwati on Sunday.
Addressing a religious congregation, Muni Niragratna Suriwar Maharaj said that being born into the Jain community and receiving the guidance of the Jain faith was among the greatest blessings in life. He urged devotees to move beyond the self-centred mindset of asking, “What did I gain?”, saying that such an attitude diverts individuals from the path of self-realisation. A meaningful life, he said, is built on a sense of duty, service and adherence to religious values.
Muni Sumatichandra Sagar Maharaj said that while every living being seeks happiness, lasting contentment cannot be found through material comforts but through inner peace, self-discipline and spiritual practice. Expressing concern over the increasing misuse of mobile phones, he said children should be encouraged to remain connected with moral values and religious teachings.
The programme commenced with Guru Pujan and the traditional Kamli Bohrai ceremony performed by Ajay Porwal and his family. Welcoming the monks, Mr. Porwal said the presence of revered saints in a household was considered a rare blessing.
Among those present were Rajkumar Fattawat, patron of Mahavir Jain Parishad; Arun Mandot, Chairman of JSG Mewar Region; Gajpal Singh Rathore, BJP city district president; Pramod Samar; Lokesh Kothari, treasurer of the Terapanth community; Himmat Badala; Kuldeep Nahar; and a large gathering of devotees and citizens.
Children presented devotional performances to mark the occasion. Yuvik Porwal and Dheemahi Porwal recited the poem "Eno Naam Sadhu". Muni Sheetalchandra Sagar Maharaj also conducted a guided meditation session for children using blindfolds to promote concentration and introspection.
The programme was compered by Praveen Porwal. The event was attended by Sadhvis Kirtirekhashreeji, Nayanpragyashreeji (Thana-10), Adirekhashreeji, Siddharekhashreeji, along with other members of the Sadhvi Sangh.
