From the constitution of the first elected Assembly in 1952 to the present day, this House has played a pivotal role in shaping the social, economic, and political development of the state. To mark the 75th year of the Assembly, the *Amrit Mahotsav*—commencing on July 15—will bring this glorious journey to life under one roof through the "Legislative Pride Journey – A Confluence of Current and Former MLAs" (*Vidhayi Gaurav Yatra*). This event will showcase past achievements, present innovations, and future resolutions side by side.
From the Integration of Princely States to a Democratic House
Post-independence, Rajasthan was formed through the gradual integration of numerous princely states. *Vrihad Rajasthan* (Greater Rajasthan) was established on March 30, 1949, and the state assumed its current form on November 1, 1956. Following the first general elections, the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly was constituted on February 23, 1952, and its inaugural meeting was held on March 29, 1952. This historic moment laid a robust foundation for the democratic system of governance in the state. Initially, the Assembly comprised 160 members; over time, this number increased, reaching the current strength of 200 members in 1977. **A Digital and Paperless Assembly**
In recent times, the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly has prioritized technological modernization. The 'e-Vidhan' (NOVA) system has been implemented within the House. Furthermore, the proceedings have been made more transparent, efficient, and eco-friendly through online question-and-answer sessions, digital documentation, and electronic information systems. Computer tablets have been installed at the seats of all 200 MLAs, and a digital attendance (signature) system has been introduced for committee meetings. This transformation represents not merely a technological convenience but a concerted effort to enhance the effectiveness of democratic functioning.
**Transforming the Parliamentary Landscape through Innovation**
Several innovative initiatives have been undertaken within the Legislative Assembly. A special emblem (logo) for the Legislative Assembly has been designed, the entrance gates have been named, and the digital museum has been upgraded. Democratic history is being brought to the general public through the Constitution Gallery and the Vande Mataram Gallery. Initiatives such as the Kargil Memorial Garden, Nakshatra Vatika (astronomical garden), and Herbal Garden have lent a cultural and inspiring character to the Assembly complex.
Initiative to connect the youth with democracy
The new generation is being familiarized with parliamentary processes through programs such as Youth Parliament, Mock Assembly, and student visits to the Assembly. First-hand experience of Question Hour, debates, and decision-making processes fosters faith in democratic values among students and will prove instrumental in shaping responsible future citizens.

Amrit Mahotsav: A Confluence of History, Experience, and the Future
The 'Amrit Mahotsav,' commencing on July 15, 2026, marks a historic celebration of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly's 75-year journey. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will be the chief guest at the inaugural session of this one-day event, while Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan will grace the closing ceremony with his presence. On this occasion, former Assembly Speakers and Deputy Speakers, as well as senior legislators (both past and present) who have been elected six or more times, will be felicitated. Additionally, a special discussion will be held regarding 23 historic laws passed by the Assembly, analyzing their social and administrative impacts. This special event will be broadcast live on the Assembly's official YouTube channel.
Future Direction
Several plans are in the pipeline to transform the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly into a modern, research-oriented, and participatory institution. Initiatives have been launched to construct a modern "Central Hall"—modeled after the Central Hall of Parliament—and a state-of-the-art auditorium within the proposed Legislative Council complex. These facilities will serve as key hubs for Youth Parliaments, national and international conferences, and parliamentary training programs.
