HDFC Bank Parivartan Empowers 9.6 Lakh Individuals Through Skill Development and Livelihood Enhancement Initiatives

Udaipur :On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, HDFC Bank Parivartan, the CSR initiative of HDFC Bank, highlighted its continued efforts to equip young people with the skills, knowledge and opportunities needed to participate meaningfully in India's evolving economy. Since inception, the Bank's skilling and livelihood initiatives have positively impacted 9.6 lakh individuals.

Commenting on the occasion, Ms. Nusrat Pathan, Head – CSR, HDFC Bank, said, “India's demographic dividend presents an unprecedented opportunity to build a skilled, resilient and future-ready workforce. At HDFC Bank Parivartan, we believe skill development is one of the most effective pathways for economic empowerment and social mobility. Our focus extends beyond training to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through industry-aligned skilling, entrepreneurship support and placement linkages. As the world of work evolves, we remain committed to equipping young people with the capabilities and confidence needed to participate in and contribute meaningfully to the nation's growth story.”

HDFC Bank Parivartan's approach to skill development combines formal, certification-based training with broader livelihood and entrepreneurship interventions tailored to local contexts. More than 1.96 lakh youth have undergone formal skill training through certified programmes delivered via industry-aligned partners and NSDC-affiliated institutions, covering sectors such as healthcare, retail, logistics, hospitality, banking, insurance, EV maintenance, IT and digital technologies. These programmes are complemented by soft skills, digital literacy, financial literacy and placement support, helping young people transition into sustainable employment opportunities. The Bank has strengthened its skilling ecosystem through initiatives designed to provide industry-relevant training and improve employability outcomes for youth, particularly young women and underserved communities.

Alongside youth skilling, HDFC Bank Parivartan has enabled livelihoods and entrepreneurship opportunities for 7.6 lakh women and farmers through community-based training, enterprise development and market-linkage support. These interventions span areas such as tailoring, handloom weaving, food processing, poultry farming, dairy management, organic farming, mushroom cultivation and other micro-enterprise opportunities. Beyond training, beneficiaries receive support across the value chain, including access to tools, mentoring, producer collectives, branding, packaging and market linkages. The Bank's impact assessments indicate that such interventions have significantly strengthened economic participation and resilience, particularly among women, with self-help group and enterprise-based programmes improving income generation, savings behaviour and financial independence.

World Youth Skills Day 2026 is being observed globally under the theme Skills for a Shared Future, recognising the importance of equipping young people with the technical, digital, social and entrepreneurial capabilities required to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

An impact assessment of the Bank's skill training projects during FY 2025-26 demonstrated strong outcomes across employability, confidence building and income enhancement. Training completion rates stood at approximately 85%, while nearly 74% of trainees reported improvements in communication, digital literacy and interview preparedness. Placement outcomes averaged 44.5% to 45.6%, with several projects achieving placement rates between 70% and 92%.

Among employed candidates, median monthly income stood at approximately ₹15,000, representing nearly 1.9 times improvement in earning potential following training. Women accounted for around 56% of participants, while more than 1,000 youth with disabilities benefitted from inclusive skilling interventions.

During FY 2025-26, additional skill centres and courses were launched across locations including Jaipur, Meerut, Bareilly, Nagpur, Vadodara, Ranchi, Deoghar, Barasat, Malda, Jammu, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Bilaspur, Mahasamund, Bengaluru, Kolar, Delhi and Bhiwadi.

Through its six focus areas, HDFC Bank Parivartan currently supports more than 150 active projects across all 28 states and 8 Union Territories. The initiative combines skill development, livelihood enhancement, education, healthcare, rural development, natural resource management and financial inclusion to create long-term socio-economic impact. The Bank's interventions are designed to strengthen local capabilities, promote self-reliance and enable individuals and communities to participate more actively in India's growth journey.
