MPUAT transfers solar seed dryer technology to Guwahati-based agritech firm

UDAIPUR, India — Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, has transferred its solar seed dryer technology to Guwahati-based Agrolane Technologies and Industries Pvt. Ltd. under a technology transfer agreement aimed at promoting the commercial adoption of agricultural innovations.

The technology, developed under the All India Coordinated Research Project on Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (AICRP on PHET) at MPUAT, was formally transferred through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed at the university.

The agreement was signed by Amarjyoti Sahu, Managing Partner of Agrolane Technologies and Industries, and representatives of AICRP on PHET, MPUAT, in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pratap Singh.

Speaking at the ceremony, Singh said the commercialization of research-driven technologies is essential to ensure that innovations developed by universities reach farmers and are adopted on a wider scale. He also commended the research team for developing a farmer-friendly and sustainable post-harvest technology.

The event was attended by Dr. Rakesh Sharda, National Project Coordinator of AICRP on PHET from the Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana; MPUAT Registrar Ashok Kumar; Director of Research Dr. R.L. Soni; Principal Investigator Dr. Manjeet Singh; Co-Principal Investigator Dr. B.G. Chhipa; and other university faculty members and officials.

According to Principal Investigator Dr. Manjeet Singh, the solar seed dryer uses renewable solar energy to dry seeds scientifically, reducing dependence on conventional energy sources such as electricity and fossil fuels while helping improve seed quality.

He said the transfer of the technology to industry is expected to facilitate its large-scale manufacturing and distribution, benefiting farmers, seed producers and agri-entrepreneurs across the country through wider access to an energy-efficient post-harvest solution.
