Rotary Club Udaipur Holds 69th Installation Ceremony, Announces $30,000 Matching Grant for Permanent Service Projects

 

UDAIPUR — Rotary Club Udaipur celebrated its 69th installation ceremony for the 2026-27 Rotary year at Rotary Bajaj Bhawan, announcing plans to secure a $30,000 matching grant from The Rotary Foundation to implement permanent community service projects.

Justice G.R. Moolchandani, Chairman of the Human Rights Commission, attended the event as chief guest, while Rotary District Governor Arun Bagadia was the guest of honor. Former District Governor Nirmal Singhvi officiated as the installing officer.

Addressing the gathering, Justice Moolchandani described Rotary as a global symbol of selfless service, highlighting its contributions in healthcare, blood donation, environmental conservation, water preservation, child health and community development. He said Rotary's mission is to extend assistance to the most vulnerable members of society through service.

Former District Governor Nirmal Singhvi administered the oath of office to Shrichand Khaturia, who assumed office as the club's 69th president. He also inducted the new executive committee, including President Nominee Ajay Agrawal, President-Elect Vivek Vyas, and office-bearers Subhash Singhvi, Narendra Maru, Vineet Damani, Anil Chhajed, Dr. Ajay Murdia, P.S. Talesara, Ramesh Singhvi, Satish Jain, Deepak Mehta, Gaurav Singhvi, Arihant Dugad, Sanjeev Verma, S.K. Mahajan, Sushil Banthia and O.P. Sahalot.

Singhvi said Rotary's guiding principle, "Service Above Self," continues to be the organization's greatest strength.

District Governor Arun Bagadia said contributions made to The Rotary Foundation are returned to communities through matching grants for humanitarian projects. He announced that Rotary would work with the Rajasthan government this year on a cervical cancer vaccination campaign for girls and welfare initiatives for women inmates. He also inducted the club's new member, Kavisha Manwani.

In his inaugural address, President Shrichand Khaturia said meaningful change begins with an individual but succeeds when embraced by society. He announced that the club would seek a $30,000 matching grant from The Rotary Foundation to develop sustainable service projects benefiting underprivileged communities. He said cervical cancer vaccination for girls would be the club's top priority during the year.

Assistant District Governor Gajendra Jodhawat said Rotary would continue working in line with the international Rotary theme while expanding its role in service and leadership. He said the organization inspires hope and creates lasting positive change in people's lives.

During the ceremony, dignitaries released the club's annual bulletin edited by O.P. Sahalot. The club also donated a computer set to Government Senior Secondary School, Goyan, and a furniture set along with notebooks to Government Senior Secondary School, Boojhra, for students.

The program began with a welcome address by President Shrichand Khaturia, while Sheila Talesara and Darshana Singhvi presented an invocation. The ceremony concluded with members reaffirming their commitment to expanding Rotary's service initiatives throughout the coming year.
