Beyond acting, he excelled as a writer and director, crafting films that continue to be remembered for their powerful storytelling, unforgettable music and timeless messages.

The week-long celebration features six landmark films that reflect the many shades of Manoj Kumar's remarkable journey as an actor and filmmaker. Purab Aur Paschim follows, celebrating Indian culture and values through a story that beautifully bridged East and West, while Shor showcases Manoj Kumar's emotional depth in one of Hindi cinema's most touching tales of love, loss and fatherhood. Shaheed revisits the inspiring life and sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, a performance that remains one of the defining portrayals of India's freedom movement. The celebrations culminate on 24th July with the grand epic Kranti, a film that brought together a stellar ensemble while reaffirming Manoj Kumar's unmatched ability to tell stories of courage, sacrifice and love for the nation on an unforgettable scale.

Remembering the man behind these timeless classics, some of his closest colleagues and friends from the industry fondly share their memories.

Shatrughan Sinha says: "When I think of Manoj Kumar ji, I don't just remember a brilliant actor or filmmaker, I remember a man who lived every film he made. He never approached cinema as just entertainment. For him, every story had a purpose and every character stood for something larger than life. I still remember watching him quietly observe every detail on set before calling for action. There was a calmness about him, but also an incredible clarity of vision. Working with him taught me that sincerity is the greatest strength an artist can have. The industry gave him the title 'Bharat Kumar', but to many of us, he was simply Manoj ji—a warm, dignified gentleman whose love for India reflected in everything he created."

Hema Malini says: "Some of my fondest memories are of working with Manoj ji because every day on his sets felt like a masterclass in filmmaking. He was gentle in the way he guided his actors and always encouraged us to perform with honesty rather than drama. What touched me most was the respect he gave everyone, whether they were senior artistes or technicians. His films carried so much heart because he himself was such an emotional and deeply thoughtful person. Even today, when I watch his films, I am reminded of the passion and discipline with which he created every frame. It was truly a privilege to have worked alongside him."

Pyarelal says: "Music meant everything to Manoj Kumar ji. Whenever we worked together, he would sit with us for hours discussing not just the tune, but the emotion behind every lyric and every musical phrase. He had an extraordinary ear and understood how music could become the heartbeat of a story. Songs from his films continue to live on because he treated them as an extension of the narrative, never as an interruption. Working with him was creatively fulfilling because he always inspired us to give our very best. Those memories remain incredibly special to me."

Prem Chopra says: "Manoj and I shared not just screen space but many wonderful memories over the years. Behind the camera, he was disciplined, focused and incredibly hardworking, but once the day's work was over, he was warm, affectionate and full of laughter. He always looked after the people around him and made everyone feel valued. I admired the conviction with which he made films that spoke about the country, relationships and humanity. There was never any compromise with his beliefs, and that is what made him truly unique. I feel fortunate to have known him both as a colleague and as a friend."
