MPUAT Appoints Prof. Manoj Kumar Mahla as Director of Research

Udaipur,  Senior agricultural scientist and academician Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Mahla has assumed charge as the Director of Research at the Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, with a focus on strengthening farmer-centric and innovation-driven agricultural research.

After taking charge on Thursday, Prof. Mahla said his priority would be to align the university's research with farmers' needs while ensuring that it meets global standards. He said the integration of modern science, advanced technologies and the expertise of young researchers would further strengthen MPUAT's position at the national and international levels.

Outlining his vision, Prof. Mahla said the Directorate of Research would focus on developing technologies that help increase farmers' income, conserve natural resources and address the challenges posed by climate change.

He also stressed the need to accelerate multidisciplinary research in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology and digital agriculture, describing them as key drivers of future agricultural innovation.

Prof. Mahla said another major priority would be ensuring that technologies and research developed at the university are transferred to farmers in a timely manner. To achieve this, he said stronger coordination would be established between the university's research and agricultural extension systems.

He added that providing young scientists and research scholars with advanced research facilities, quality mentorship and greater opportunities for innovation would remain an important focus of the Directorate.

The university administration expressed confidence that under Prof. Mahla's leadership, MPUAT's research programmes would expand their impact and contribute to the development of sustainable, farmer-oriented agricultural technologies.

Prof. Mahla said his long-term vision is to develop MPUAT as a national centre of excellence in agricultural research, innovation and farmer-centric technologies, ensuring that every innovation developed in laboratories ultimately benefits farmers in the field.
