Udaipur: Former Congress spokesperson and councillor Firoz Ahmed Sheikh has expressed deep grief over the death of a young girl who reportedly fell into Lake Pichola from the rooftop restaurant of Jagat Niwas Hotel in Udaipur. Calling the incident tragic, he urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take strict action against those found responsible.

Sheikh said the incident has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of rooftop restaurants and cafés operating around the city's iconic Lake Pichola, one of Udaipur's most renowned tourist attractions. He alleged that several rooftop bars, cafés, and restaurants located near City Palace, Gangaur Ghat, and Ambrai Ghat are functioning without mandatory Fire No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and environmental clearances.

He urged the district administration to inspect all such establishments operating around the lake and ensure strict compliance with safety and environmental regulations. According to Sheikh, any establishment found violating the prescribed norms should face immediate legal and administrative action.

She also demanded that the bereaved family be provided financial assistance by the hotel management as well as the administration. He further called for stringent action against those responsible for the incident to ensure accountability and prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Sheikh also urged the authorities to take immediate action against all illegally operating rooftop restaurants and cafés that fail to comply with statutory safety standards, saying public safety must be given the highest priority.
