###Conquering Attachment and Aversion Is the Path to Liberation, Says Dr. Rajendra Muni
Udaipur, Delivering a discourse during the Chaturmas sermon series at Devendradham, Dr. Rajendra Muni said that attachment (raag) and aversion (dvesh) are the root causes of karmic bondage, and liberation can be attained only by overcoming these inner impurities.
He explained that anger, pride, deceit, and greed—the four kashayas (passions)—originate from attachment and aversion, binding the soul to the cycle of birth and death. Citing the life of Lord Mahavira, he said the 24th Tirthankara attained Keval Gyan (omniscience) by conquering these passions. “If spiritual practice is to become meaningful and successful, one must first eliminate the kashayas within. True sadhana bears fruit only when it is guided by equanimity, self-restraint, and detachment,” he said.
Dr. Rajendra Muni observed that modern lifestyles, behaviour, and thought processes are increasingly influenced by attachment and excessive material desires. He said that deep attachment to worldly possessions is the primary cause of human suffering, while religion teaches equanimity, self-discipline, and detachment, leading to inner peace and spiritual well-being.
During the religious assembly, Dr. Surendra Muni led devotees in a collective recitation of Badi Sadhu Vandana in praise of Lord Adinath. Speaking on the life of the first Jain Tirthankara, he highlighted Lord Adinath’s role in guiding humanity towards righteousness, self-discipline, and ethical living.
A large number of devotees participated in the discourse and received spiritual blessings.
The organisers announced that a special Guru Purnima celebration, featuring Guru Vandana, will be held on July 29, with the rituals to be conducted by Dr. Surendra Muni.
Former Mayor Rajni Dangi and General Secretary Himmat Badala welcomed social workers visiting from outside the city, while President Roshanlal Jain proposed the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the programme.
