Guru Purnima Celebration Highlights Guru-Shishya Tradition at MPUAT's College of Dairy and Food Technology
UDAIPUR : The College of Dairy and Food Technology at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, organized a special Guru Purnima celebration emphasizing the preservation of the guru-shishya (teacher-disciple) tradition and Indian cultural values.
MPUAT Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pratap Singh attended the event as the chief guest.
Assistant Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Meena said the program began with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp before the idol of Goddess Saraswati. Head of the Department of Dairy and Food Technology Dr. Nikita Wadhwan delivered the welcome address and outlined the program, highlighting the supreme place of teachers in Indian culture.
Dr. Siddharth Mishra welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries and delivered an insightful lecture on the rich history of the guru-shishya tradition, emphasizing its cultural and ethical significance.
In his keynote address, Dr. Pratap Singh elaborated on the spiritual, cultural and educational importance of Guru Purnima. He said that teachers not only impart knowledge but also play a vital role in shaping students' personalities, instilling values and guiding them toward the right path in life. Referring to Acharya Dronacharya from the Mahabharata, he discussed the ideals of a teacher and the responsibilities of students, urging them to uphold respect, discipline and dedication toward their mentors.
Students Ayush Sharma, Kriti Sundar Das, Kiran and Pooja presented speeches, poems and inspirational thoughts on the greatness of teachers, expressing their gratitude and reverence. Their presentations were warmly appreciated by the audience.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Meena, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, organizers, faculty members, staff and students for their participation.
Engineer Kusum Meghwal, faculty members, non-teaching staff and nearly 150 students attended the event. The celebration concluded with a collective pledge to uphold respect for teachers and preserve India's rich cultural values.
