Ishaan Dhawan Says 'Yeh Fitoor Tera' Gives Voice to Gen Z's Desire to Be Understood
MUMBAI: Actor Ishaan Dhawan says the upcoming Star Plus drama "Yeh Fitoor Tera" reflects the aspirations and struggles of today's Generation Z, a generation that wants to be heard rather than judged.
Set to premiere on Aug. 5, the show explores themes of identity, self-expression and the challenges faced by young people who refuse to conform to traditional expectations.
Speaking about his character Jeet, Dhawan said the series highlights how society is often quick to label people who think differently or openly express their opinions.
"While playing Jeet, I realized how quickly we judge people who don't fit our idea of what is normal. If someone speaks their mind, asks questions or chooses a different path, they are often labeled as rebellious or difficult before anyone tries to understand them," Dhawan said.
He added that the same perception is frequently applied to Gen Z, a generation that seeks to express itself and be genuinely heard.
"I believe that's what makes 'Yeh Fitoor Tera' so relevant today. Jeet is not someone who changes himself to gain others' approval. He is emotional, imperfect and follows his own path. That honesty is what makes him real, and I think today's audiences connect more with authentic characters than with perfect ones," he said.
The series portrays characters who embrace their individuality instead of trying to fit into predefined stereotypes, presenting a layered and realistic perspective on the lives of young people.
"Yeh Fitoor Tera" will premiere on Star Plus on Aug. 5 and will air daily at 8:30 p.m. The show will also be available for streaming on JioHotstar.
