Religion Makes Human Beings Noble; Without It, Life Becomes Animal-Like: Dr. Rajendra Muni
Udaipur: Addressing the Chaturmas discourse series at Devendra Dham, Dr. Rajendra Muni said that Dharma (righteousness) is the very foundation of human life. Without Dharma, human existence remains confined to selfishness and material pleasures, reducing life to an animal-like state. He emphasized that it is Dharma that nurtures noble virtues and guides a person towards divinity.
During his discourse, Dr. Rajendra Muni explained that the greatest distinction between human beings and animals is Dharma. It cultivates virtues such as compassion, kindness, forgiveness, humility, and self-restraint. Drawing an analogy, he said that just as the roots provide strength and stability to a tree, Dharma gives purpose, balance, and direction to human life. A life disconnected from Dharma ultimately loses its true path.
He further stated that inner passions such as anger, pride, deceit, and greed cloud the purity of the soul. Until these impurities are overcome, neither self-realization nor true transformation is possible. Dharma, he said, is not merely meant to be heard or studied; its true essence lies in practicing and living its principles in daily life.
Illustrating his point through nature, Dr. Rajendra Muni said that just as the sun's nature is to illuminate, the moon's nature is to provide coolness, and fire's nature is to generate heat, the soul's inherent nature is purity and consciousness. However, worldly passions conceal the soul's true nature, which can be rediscovered through sincere spiritual practice and Dharma.
A large number of devotees attended the discourse. The programme was conducted by office-bearers of the community. Concluding the event, devotees were urged to imbibe the principles of Dharma in their daily lives. It was also announced that a special prayer meeting and religious programme for world peace and the welfare of all living beings will be organised on Sunday, August 2.
