Spiritual Merit Never Perishes; Time is Life’s Greatest Treasure: Sadhvi Vidyutprabha
Udaipur: Addressing a spiritual discourse at Vasupujya Temple, Dada Bari, Sadhvi Vidyutprabha and Thana-6 said on Thursday that the greatest wealth in human life is not material possessions but the accumulation of punya (spiritual merit). Once earned, spiritual merit never diminishes and becomes the foundation of happiness, prosperity, respect, and success. She emphasized that wealth is not acquired solely through hard work; one's accumulated merit also plays a significant role.
Explaining the concept further, Sadhvi Vidyutprabha said that while a labourer may work tirelessly from morning to evening merely to provide food for the family, another individual may earn substantial wealth with comparatively less effort. The difference, she said, is not merely fate but the influence of punya. Those blessed with spiritual merit naturally attract opportunities and prosperity. Therefore, people should strive not only to earn money but also to accumulate virtuous deeds.
She reminded devotees that human life is temporary and unpredictable. The moment a person's eyes close forever, preparations for the final journey begin. A person who owned immense wealth only moments earlier ultimately lies on the funeral pyre, and none of his material possessions accompany him. "The only companions beyond this life are one's punya and righteous deeds," she said, urging people to overcome attachment to wealth, status, and pride.
Highlighting the importance of time, she described it as the most precious asset in the world. Lost wealth can be earned again, but even a single moment that has passed can never be recovered. She encouraged everyone to make meaningful use of every moment through Dharma, selfless service, spiritual practice, and self-realisation.
Referring to the example of Alexander the Great, she said that despite possessing immense power, wealth, and a vast empire, he could not escape death. When death arrived, neither his treasures nor his kingdom could save him. Death is the ultimate truth that makes no distinction between individuals. Once the soul departs from the body, personal identity also fades, and the body is simply referred to as a mortal remains. This, she said, demonstrates the futility of pride in worldly identity and possessions.
The discourse began with a devotional invocation by Sadhvi Pragyanjana, Sadhvi Namanruchi, Sadhvi Yogruchi, and Sadhvi Tanmayruchi. A large number of devotees attended the programme and benefitted from the spiritual discourse.
