Chief Secretary Directs Wider Public Participation on Uniform Civil Code

Jaipur/Udaipur: A consultation meeting on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) was held on Thursday at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary V. Srinivas with officials from various departments. The Chief Secretary directed officials to ensure maximum public participation by effectively using all available platforms, including WhatsApp, QR codes, SMS, and other communication channels, to collect suggestions and opinions on the UCC.

He instructed district and departmental officials to conduct extensive awareness campaigns so that more people can participate and provide their views. During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Bhaskar Sawant informed that around 68,000 suggestions have already been received through different platforms, with new inputs continuing to arrive daily.

The Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress of key schemes and pending matters related to departments including Public Health Engineering, Rural Development, Urban Development, Local Self Government, Panchayati Raj, Public Works, and Energy. He directed officials to ensure quality and timely implementation of schemes, along with proper financial allocation, manpower deployment, and achievement of targets.

Emphasising the vision of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Srinivas said that no eligible citizen should be deprived of government welfare schemes. Priority should be given to basic services such as drinking water, electricity, roads, sanitation, and street lighting to provide maximum relief to citizens.

From Udaipur, Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani, District Collector Gaurav Agrawal, Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhishek Khanna, ADM City Jitendra Ojha, and other officials participated through video conferencing. After the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner and Collector instructed all departmental officers to ensure strict compliance with the directions issued during the review meeting.
