Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde hails the unparalleled contribution of the late K.C. Maloo to the development of Rajasthani music*

Jaipur: On Thursday evening, at the "Rajasthan Gaurav Award Ceremony" organized by the Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha at the Rajputana Sheraton Hotel in Jaipur, Prasenjit Maloo of Veena Music Group was honored with the Rajasthan Gaurav Award. He was recognized for his commendable work in promoting Rajasthani musical art and culture and for taking Rajasthani music to every household.
While honoring Prasenjit Maloo—who is also the President of the Association of Event Entrepreneurs—Governor Bagde recalled the contributions made by the late K.C. Maloo, the founding chairman of Veena Music Group, to Rajasthani musical culture and the local language. He remarked that Maloo's untimely demise caused an irreparable loss not only to Rajasthan but to the nation's art world—a void that is extremely difficult to fill. The late K.C. Maloo brought global recognition and popularity to Rajasthani music and provided opportunities for hidden talent from remote villages and hamlets to reach national and international platforms, thereby creating avenues for their livelihoods.

Governor Haribhau Bagde stated that Rajasthani is not merely a language but a culture. He began his address in the Rajasthani language and recited verses such as Kanhaiyalal Sethia’s "Dharti Dhora Ri" and the lines by the great poet Suryamall Mishran—"Ila na deni aapni, halariya hulray; Poot sikhave paalne, maran badai maay"—explaining their meaning as well. The Governor remarked that Rajasthani is a very sweet language and is truly the language of Rajasthan. He added that orders have been issued to immediately open Rajasthani centers in all universities. He also remarked that it was a positive development; after the opening of a Marathi center in Rajasthan, the local people turned their attention to the Rajasthani language and demanded the establishment of a Rajasthani center as well. He noted that this initiative should have been undertaken much earlier.
At the ceremony, the Governor honored distinguished personalities from various fields with the "Rajasthan Gaurav" award. Pandit Suresh Mishra, Founding President of Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha; eminent jurist H.C. Ganeshiya; and Govind Parik, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister, also addressed the gathering on this occasion.
