Merchants Demand Swift Action in Udaipur Theft
Udaipur: The Timber and Plywood Merchant Welfare Society has submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police, demanding the early resolution of a high-value burglary at the residence of prominent businessman Sanjay Surana.
Society President Ravindra Singh Chauhan said the organization has urged the police to expedite the investigation, arrest the accused, and recover the stolen valuables. He noted that despite considerable time having passed since the incident, there has been no significant breakthrough, creating anxiety and a sense of insecurity among the city's business community.
The burglary took place at the home of Sanjay Surana, proprietor of BP Enterprises, where gold and silver jewellery, cash, and other valuables were stolen. The stolen cash reportedly included around ₹700,000 set aside for business expansion, ₹200,000 saved over the years for his daughter's wedding, and additional savings belonging to the family's children. The incident has caused both substantial financial loss and emotional distress to the family.
According to the society, an FIR was registered at Hiran Magri Police Station immediately after the theft. However, the accused have not yet been traced, and none of the stolen property has been recovered, leaving the victim's family awaiting justice.
Society office-bearers urged the police administration to treat the matter with urgency by constituting a special investigation team, intensifying the probe, ensuring the prompt arrest of those responsible, and recovering the stolen property. They said swift action is essential to deliver justice to the affected family and restore the business community's confidence in law and order.
