Mining Education Stalwart Anupam Bhatnagar Retires
Udaipur: After an illustrious 38-year career in mining engineering, Dr. Anupam Bhatnagar has retired from the Department of Mining Engineering at the College of Technology and Engineering (CTAE), Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur. He was felicitated by the CTAE family and the Rajasthan Chapter of the Mining Engineers' Association of India (MEAI) for his outstanding contributions to education, research, and institutional development.
Dr. Bhatnagar completed his schooling in Udaipur, Charbhuja, Kotharia, and Kapasan before earning his Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering in 1988, an M.Tech. in 1996, and a Ph.D. in 2003.
He began his academic career in 1988 as an ad hoc Assistant Professor in the Mining Engineering Department at CTAE and was appointed to a regular faculty position in 1989. His dedication and academic excellence led to his promotion as Associate Professor in 2007 and Professor in 2010.
During his tenure, Dr. Bhatnagar served as Head of the Department for 11 years and Dean for one year. He also held several key administrative responsibilities, including Placement Cell In-charge, Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO), and Admission In-charge.
Beyond the university, he served as a member of the State-Level Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC), Ombudsman of MBM University, Jodhpur, and as a member of Boards of Studies at various universities. He also served as an expert on faculty selection panels constituted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission and Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
An accomplished researcher, Dr. Bhatnagar published more than 75 research papers, authored one book and four laboratory manuals, and led two major research projects as Principal Investigator. One of his significant research contributions earned the AICTE Young Scientist Award, while the Mining Engineers' Association of India honoured him with the prestigious Sitaram Rungta Award in 2005 for his distinguished contributions to the field.
