JIFF Launches National Education Initiative: 2–7 Minute Movie Making Competition 2026 with Cash Awards Worth ₹1 Lakh
Jaipur: The Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) has announced the Second Phase of the 2nd Edition of the 2–7 Minute Movie Making Competition 2026 under its National Education Initiative. Centered on the theme "Education in India – Challenges & Solutions", the competition carries the message "My Education, My Future – Public & Government Together" and aims to inspire creative dialogue on strengthening India's education system through the power of cinema.
The competition invites students, teachers, parents, educational institutions, government departments, NGOs, filmmakers, and citizens from across India to produce short films that highlight real educational challenges, innovative solutions, successful initiatives, policy recommendations, digital learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), skill-based education, and inclusive, future-ready learning models.
Participants may submit Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Experimental, or Mobile Films with a duration of 2 to 7 minutes. Teams may consist of 2 to 10 members, and there is no age limit. Films may be produced in any Indian or international language, with English subtitles recommended. The submission deadline is 30 November 2026, while the winners will be announced on 10 January 2027. The participation fee is ₹1,500 per film.
The competition offers cash awards worth up to ₹1,00,000, along with Winner Certificates, Special Jury Awards, Audience Choice Awards, and Official Selection Certificates. Depending on the number of entries received, 5 to 21 outstanding films will be recognized.
Selected films will be officially screened during the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF 2027), to be held from 8–12 January 2027. Participants will also receive opportunities to network with filmmakers, educators, policy experts, and industry professionals. Outstanding films may be shared with government agencies, educational institutions, and policy stakeholders to encourage meaningful dialogue and support improvements in India's education system
