Udaipur: With the monsoon season underway, this is the most appropriate time to conserve rainwater and recharge the rapidly depleting groundwater levels across the state. Water cannot be created, but it can certainly be conserved, protected from wastage, and replenished through effective rainwater harvesting.
This message was delivered by senior Water Friend (Jal Mitra) Dr. P. C. Jain during an awareness and training programme conducted for selected students of Gandhi Bal Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Khempura, Udaipur. The initiative aimed to prepare students as future "Jal Doots" (Water Ambassadors) and "Jal Praharis" (Water Guardians), empowering them to promote water conservation for the benefit of future generations.
During his video presentation, Dr. Jain explained the four key principles of water conservation, all beginning with the Hindi letter "B": water cannot be created, but it can be saved, protected from wastage, and increased through groundwater recharge during the rainy season. He emphasized that these principles form the foundation of sustainable water conservation.
As part of the programme, Prachi, Meenakshi, Pratibha, Kavya, Pooja, Nisha, Vidushi, Manu, Vinisha, Vedika, Poonam, Anushree, Anushka, and Priyanshi were designated as Jal Praharis (Water Guardians). Ms. Priyanka Sharma and Ms. Sunita Rathore were appointed as the school's Water Conservation Coordinators.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Dinesh Sharma, who appreciated the efforts of everyone involved in promoting water conservation awareness among students.
