The Governor called for heightened vigilance regarding TB prevention and control. He directed officials to conduct surveys of people working in or associated with mining areas and cement factories and implement effective measures for early detection and treatment. He also emphasized conducting special surveys in the city’s informal settlements to identify suspected TB patients and ensure timely treatment.
The Governor stressed the need to transform the de-addiction campaign into a people’s movement. He directed officials to organize awareness programmes at the Gram Panchayat level to educate communities about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
He also emphasized recognizing and supporting individuals who have successfully overcome addiction and maintaining regular contact with them to help prevent relapse.
“Addiction is a fire whose flames can reach your own home,” the Governor said, urging widespread awareness efforts. He stressed the need to educate young people and families about the serious social and familial consequences of substance abuse.
He further directed that government offices maintain a drug-free environment, with officials and employees setting an example for society.
The Governor also reviewed the status of school education in the district and emphasized improving students’ intellectual abilities and the overall quality of education.
He said that a strong foundation in primary education is essential for producing capable students at higher secondary and college levels. Officials were directed to strengthen children’s basic understanding, learning abilities, and academic skills at the primary level.
The Governor also instructed officials to maintain records of students who achieve success in competitive examinations and share their success stories with other students to motivate and inspire them.
District Collector Gaurav Agrawal, Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan, ADM Dipendra Singh, ADM City Jitendra Roz, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhishek Khanna, Superintendent of Maharana Bhupal Hospital Dr. L. Suman, CMHO Dr. Ashok Aditya, and other district-level officials attended the meeting.
The officials presented updates on the progress of various schemes and programmes being implemented by their respective departments.
