World Tribal Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon
Udaipur: World Tribal Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon through an event jointly organized by the Rajasthan Lacrosse Association and Udaipur District Administration under the guidance of Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani.
Exciting lacrosse matches were organized for players from tribal areas across different age categories. The athletes displayed impressive speed, stick skills, passing, shooting, defence, teamwork, discipline, and sporting spirit. Several matches remained highly competitive until the final moments. National and international medal-winning players from Udaipur and surrounding tribal areas also participated.
The event aimed to connect tribal youth with sports, provide a platform for emerging talent, and promote social awareness through sporting activities. Coach Neeraj Batra guided the players and emphasized technical skills, teamwork, discipline, and positive sporting values.
Addressing the gathering, Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani said that sports play an important role in developing discipline, leadership, teamwork, and positive thinking among young people. She urged youth to prioritize education and stay away from social evils such as substance abuse, child marriage, and other harmful practices.
A pledge against substance abuse was also administered to players and attendees. Prizes were presented to outstanding performers at the conclusion of the matches.
Officials from Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (RSMML), which supports lacrosse players from tribal areas, were also present. The programme concluded with appreciation for the athletes, coaches, and supporters for their contribution towards promoting sports and social empowerment among tribal youth.
