Dr. Shrikrishna "Jugnu" Honoured by Indica

Udaipur:
On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, the Indica Foundation (Hyderabad), an organization dedicated to the promotion of Bharatiya Jnana Parampara (Indian Knowledge Tradition), honoured Dr. Shrikrishna "Jugnu" for his remarkable intellectual contributions. The felicitation took place under the initiative "Grateful2Gurus 2025" at the Department of History Museum, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur.

Indica’s representative, Jaipur-based researcher Deepika Ravjani, informed that Dr. Jugnu was felicitated in the presence of dignitaries including Head of the History Department Dr. Pratibha, environmentalist Mahesh Sharma, Dr. Piyush Bhadavia, Dr. Manish Shrimali, Dr. Rajkumar Vyas, and Dr. Mohit Shankar Sisodiya. The honour included a citation plaque, memento, and cash award.

Dr. Shrikrishna “Jugnu,” a celebrated epigraphist, scholar, author, and educator, has had an extraordinary journey. His contributions span across Hindi, Sanskrit, English, and Rajasthani, covering subjects like music, architecture, sculpture, agriculture, horticulture, and ancient water systems. He has worked extensively on scripts such as Brahmi, Devanagari, Gujarati, Bengali, Newari, Maithili, and even the Modi script.

His translations of the Vishnudharmottara Purana, Matsya Purana, and Garuda Purana have provided global scholars with clearer insight into these ancient texts. Dr. Jugnu has also played a pivotal role in popularizing scientific aspects of Sanskrit, making complex concepts accessible to the wider public. His writings span crucial themes including Vastu Shastra, groundwater systems, celestial water, forest culture, and various Indian knowledge systems.

Notably, Indica Foundation, with the blessings of the Kanchi Shankaracharya Peetham, began its journey in 2015. Drawing inspiration from Acharya Chanakya, Adi Shankaracharya, Swami Vivekananda, and many others, Indica honours those who have preserved and revitalized dharma across generations. The ‘Grateful2Gurus’ initiative is a flagship annual program that encourages seekers and communities to acknowledge the transformative journeys made possible by their gurus.

To date, Indica has had the privilege of honouring more than 130 gurus through this initiative.

It was a matter of pride for Deepika Ravjani, who is conducting research on temple sculptures of Udaipur, to represent Indica and take part in this sacred act of guru-veneration.
