Mystical Melodies: Zinc's Harmonious Cultural Extravaganza

In the enchanting city of Zinc, where the melodies of music and the fragrance of artistic inspiration linger in the air, an extraordinary evening unfolded at the Mukta Kashi Auditorium. The occasion was the Pandit Chatur Lal Memorial Classical Music Concert, a mesmerizing symphony dedicated to the legendary tabla maestro.

The stage was adorned with Mohan Veena and Sattvik Veena, their strings echoing the pearls of enchanting notes that would soon embrace the eager audience. The event was a collaborative effort between Hindustan Zinc and the organizers, aiming to elevate Udaipur into the musical capital of India.


Arun Mishra, the Chief Executive Officer of Hindustan Zinc, expressed the profound connection between music and camaraderie, emphasizing how these concerts served to bring joy and culture to the residents of Udaipur. "Music is a bridge to the soul, a connection between the self and the divine," he remarked.

The auditorium buzzed with anticipation as the Grammy Award-winning Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and the tabla virtuoso Pandit Salil Bhatt graced the stage. Their jugalbandi, a musical conversation between Mohan Veena and Sattvik Veena, resonated through the hall, leaving the audience spellbound.

The illustrious artists paid homage to Pandit Chatur Lal through their virtuoso performances. The magical synergy between the Mohan Veena and Sattvik Veena, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of the tabla, created an ethereal atmosphere, transporting the audience to a realm of musical ecstasy.

Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, renowned for inventing the Mohan Veena, and Pandit Salil Bhatt commenced their performance with the meditative Raag Jog, weaving a tapestry of musical expressions. The Grammy Award-winning composition, "Meeting by the River," played on the Mohan Veena, followed by the soul-stirring rendition of the popular devotional song, "Shri Ram Bhajan Payo Ji Maine." In the spirit of camaraderie and cultural enrichment, the Brahmand Band took the stage, presenting a musical journey that transcended boundaries. The innovative composition, blending elements of different musical traditions, aimed to promote peace and collaboration, breaking barriers and fostering a sense of unity.

Organized by the Pandit Chatur Lal Memorial Society and supported by Vedanta and Hindustan Zinc, the 23rd edition of "Smritiyan" became a cultural milestone. The concert, co-sponsored by Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited, GAIL India, NTPC, and Rajasthan Tourism, brought together the brilliance of classical and contemporary music, creating an unforgettable evening for the connoisseurs of art in the City of Lakes.
