Udaipur, Rajasthan – The inauguration of the Haridas Ji ki Magri–Pichola Ring Road Link Road was held on Sunday under the chief hospitality of Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulabchand Kataria, during his visit to his hometown Udaipur. Addressing the gathering, Governor Kataria said that collective efforts must be made to ensure that Udaipur grows into an even more beautiful city. He praised the strong team of administrative officers and the cooperation of local legislators and representatives in advancing Udaipur’s development.
Udaipur Transformed Through Devash Projects
Governor Kataria highlighted that the Devash water projects have been instrumental in Udaipur’s upliftment, with significant progress also visible in sanitation. Once the third and fourth phases of Devash are completed, Udaipur will establish new milestones of development. He further noted that Amarkh Ji Leopard Conservation Reserve, Baghdara Nature Park, and Sajjangarh Lion Safari will serve as both symbols of environmental conservation and major tourist attractions. Efforts are also underway to develop the Nandeshwar–Kavita Ring Road.
Vision for Sustainable Tourism Growth
Speaking on tourism, Kataria emphasized the need to create arrangements and facilities that encourage tourists to extend their stay at new destinations. He noted that Mewar’s glorious history must be presented in a way that visitors can both see and read. Referring to Ayad river beautification, he stated that technical precautions had been taken to prevent damage from heavy water flow. He stressed that tourism has become the largest generator of employment in Udaipur, and therefore a balance between growth and sustainability must be maintained with positivity and farsighted planning.
Relief from Traffic Congestion – Minister Babulal Kharadi
Tribal Area Development Minister Babulal Kharadi, attending as a special guest, said that “the pain of the common people is our pain,” and the new road would provide shorter routes and major relief from traffic jams. Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain assured that development work in Udaipur would continue without compromise, citing efforts such as transforming Ayad from a drain into a river and clearing illegal encroachments. Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena also addressed the gathering.
Road Constructed at a Cost of ₹91.83 Lakhs
According to UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain, the road linking Haridas Ji ki Magri to Pichola Ring Road has been built with a sanctioned cost of ₹91.83 lakhs, including C.C. pavement and drainage construction. This new link will connect residents with the Ring Road while also providing safe and scenic walking spaces along the lake. He added that heavy vehicles would not be allowed, with standard head gauges installed to prevent accidents.
Distances Reduced Considerably, Saving Time and Fuel
The link road will significantly cut down travel distances.
Ceesarma Village: Reduced from 3.70 km (via Rampura Chowraha) to 2.10 km.
Seetamata Temple: Reduced from 4 km to 2.40 km.
Nandeshwar–Jhadol Road: Reduced from 4.40 km to 3 km.
Jalburj: Reduced from 8 km (through the city) to just 5.80 km.
