Udaipur,On the third day of the Judo competitions under the ongoing Khelo India University Games in Lake City Udaipur, excitement peaked at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indoor Stadium on Thursday. Competitors across weight categories showcased exceptional skill and fought hard for podium finishes. In the final bouts held in the evening, athletes from Delhi University, MDU, GNDU, PUP and several other universities secured medals.

Thrilling Fights for Gold in Judo

In the Men’s 90 kg category, Delhi University’s Akshit Tokas clinched the gold medal with an impressive performance. Kunal from M.D. University won silver, while Ayush Dutt of BRKT University and Prakhar of MJP University secured bronze medals.

In the 100 kg category, GNDU’s Rakesh Gill emerged as the gold medalist. Mubashir P. from CUK claimed silver, while Arjun Ajit Kumar of MGUK and Vishnu Sharma from RU bagged bronze medals.

Women Athletes Shine With Exceptional Talent

In the Women’s 57 kg category, Akshita Sharma from Punjab University secured gold, while MAANU’s Haobijam Shubhashini Devi won silver, and RU’s Priya claimed bronze.

In the 70 kg category, LPU’s Kidem Teabagganbi Chanu secured gold, GNDU’s Gagbam Deepapatidevi won silver, while DU’s Tajim Faiz and CCS University’s Diksha Sharma took home bronze medals.

In the 78 kg category, PUP’s Harmanpreet Kaur grabbed gold with a remarkable performance. DU’s Kashish Dagar won silver, while MSUS’s Janvi and MGUK’s Nandhana Prasad earned bronze medals.

The medal ceremony was graced by Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Khanna, MLSU Registrar V.C. Garg, and Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Registrar Dharmendra Rajora, who distributed medals and certificates. The Tourism Department also presented vibrant cultural performances during the event.

Beach Volleyball Begins Friday; Kayaking–Canoeing Lanes Ready

Preparations for the Beach Volleyball competitions starting Friday have been completed, including sand leveling on the court and installation of poles. Arrangements for food and spectator seating with tent setups are in the final stage. Before the athletes' practice sessions, District Sports Officer Dr. Mahesh Paliwal and members of the organizing committee performed a formal worship ceremony on the ground.

At Fatehsagar Lake, eight special lanes have been prepared for the Kayaking and Canoeing competitions, which will begin on December 2. Dr. Paliwal informed that seating arrangements for officials and technical teams, along with branding work, are underway. All arrangements have been finalized for the matches starting Friday.
