Lily and Arya Embark on Bicycle Journey from India to Italy

Udaipur, India, with its vast biodiversity, has always cherished a culture of environmental conservation and love for flora and fauna. However, the onslaught on nature in the name of development has been distressing. It is imperative for the youth to adopt a nature-friendly lifestyle and minimize their carbon footprint while striving to enrich the environment.

These thoughts were expressed by Lily and Arya, who embarked on a bicycle journey from Tamil Nadu to Italy, during a youth environmental dialogue organized at the Vidya Bhavan Polytechnic. The dialogue was jointly organized by the National Service Scheme unit of Polytechnic, Green People Society, and Empowered Institute.

It is noteworthy that Lily, of German origin, and Arya, of Italian descent, have set out on a 13,000-kilometer bicycle journey with their native breed dog, Shawnee. They are traversing from one place to another, spreading the message of eco-friendly construction, conservation of indigenous species, and avoiding the use of plastic.

In the dialogue, Suhel Mazboor and Dr. Lalit Joshi of the Green People Society emphasized the need for the youth to develop a sense of nature service within themselves. Initially, Principal Dr. Anil Mehta shed light on Udaipur's culture of nature conservation. Department Head J.P. Shrimali expressed gratitude.
