Udaipur, The 2nd Udaipur International Rapid and Blitz FIDE Rating Chess Tournament is set to take place on August 16 and 17, under the aegis of the Udaipur District Chess Association (UDCA). The prestigious event will be hosted at the renowned Opera Hotel & Banquets, Shobhagpura, with a total prize pool of ₹6 lakh.
Tournament Director Rohit Lodha announced that the event will be conducted in two formats – Rapid and Blitz, and is officially recognized by the World Chess Federation (FIDE). Top-rated players from across India are expected to participate, promising a series of thrilling matches over the 64 squares.
A total of 328 prizes will be awarded during the tournament, comprising 142 cash prizes, 126 trophies, and 60 medals. The winner of the Rapid format will receive a cash prize of ₹61,000, while the top player in the Blitz format will be awarded ₹30,000.
The tournament will feature separate prize categories for various age groups — Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, and Under-15 — as well as for women, senior citizens, differently-abled, and unrated players.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for 9:00 AM on August 16, while the closing and prize distribution ceremony will take place at 5:00 PM on August 17.
Mr. Lodha further informed that over 100 players have already registered, and those who register by July 13 can avail a special discount of ₹500.
