Udaipur National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, and the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, Jaipur, the third National Lok Adalat of the year was organized in Udaipur on Saturday in the presence of District and Sessions Judge Shri Gyan Prakash Gupta.
Large-Scale Settlement of Cases
A total of 5,99,866 cases were resolved, with awards amounting to approximately ₹39.26 crore being passed. Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority and ADJ Shri Kuldeep Sharma informed that the event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Authority President and District & Sessions Judge Shri Gyan Prakash Gupta. The proceedings witnessed the participation of judges, advocates, bank and insurance officials, and litigants.
Final and Binding Resolutions
Shri Sharma highlighted that cases resolved in the National Lok Adalat attain finality with no scope for appeal. Furthermore, litigants receive a refund of court fees. Such amicable settlements not only reduce pendency but also foster mutual harmony and goodwill among parties.
Breakdown of Resolved Cases
Among the disposed cases, 1,65,267 were pending across district courts, tribunals, and commissions, while 4,34,599 were pre-litigation cases.
902 cases under the NI Act were resolved with awards of about ₹21.70 crore.
400 family court cases were amicably settled.
203 motor accident claim cases were resolved, with awards of nearly ₹8.32 crore granted to the parties.
Institutional Participation
The Lok Adalat also saw active participation of officials from Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, including executive engineers, revenue officers, and assistant engineers from Ambamata, Debari, Girwa, Madri, Ashok Nagar, Sector-4, Savina, Badgaon, Kurabad, Madhuban, and other units. Representatives from BSNL, Utkam Commercial Ltd., Arsh Fincon, RBL Bank, SBI (various branches), ICICI Bank, UCO Bank, Indian Bank, Canara Bank, Axis Bank, IIFL Samasta, Bajaj Finserv, PNB, Hero FinCorp, Sundaram Finance, Aadhar Housing Finance, Tiger Cap Pvt. Ltd., Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and others were also present.
