Guru Purnima Celebrated with Reverence at Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University

Udaipur – A deeply spiritual and cultural celebration marked Guru Purnima at Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University with a grand Guru Samman Samaroh (Teacher Felicitation Ceremony) held at Lokmanya Tilak Teachers’ Training College Auditorium. The event was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Col. Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, who emphasized the unparalleled role of gurus as carriers of values and culture in Indian tradition.

“Gurus Teach the Art of Living” – Prof. Sarangdevot

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sarangdevot highlighted that Guru Purnima is a day to bow with gratitude to the Guru, who not only imparts knowledge but also teaches how to live. He said that while technology may offer tools, emotional intelligence, ethics, and life experience come only through the guidance of a Guru. The Vice-Chancellor equated the Guru with the full moon, a symbol of light and completeness, capable of illuminating the hearts of disciples with wisdom.

He also stated that in Indian tradition, the Guru is revered as God, and even a person from whom we gain positive knowledge or values is worthy of being considered a Guru. “A Guru helps us navigate society and contribute to eradicating its evils,” he added, recalling sage Vedvyas, who composed the four Vedas on this day, and acknowledging mother as the first guru in everyone’s life.

Indian Knowledge System is Unique – Chancellor Bhanwar Lal Gurjar

Chancellor and Chief Guest Bhanwar Lal Gurjar said that India’s knowledge system is unparalleled globally. He pointed out that while festivals are celebrated daily across India, the younger generation is drifting away from traditional values, and it is the responsibility of teachers to guide them back.

Artistic Homage and Felicitations

The program began with a musical Guru Vandana by Dr. Tilkesh Ameta and Mahendra Verma, which moved the audience emotionally. The ceremony was conducted by Dr. Harish Chaubisa, and a vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Rachna Rathore.

On this occasion, several dignitaries including Dr. Rachna Rathore, Dr. Balidan Jain, Dr. Ami Rathore, Dr. Bhuralal Sharma, Dr. Amit Baheti, Dr. Harish Menaria, Dr. Amit Dave, Dr. Rohit Kumawat, Dr. Subhash Purohit, Dr. Sheetal Chugh, and others were present and actively participated.

Day-Long Celebrations at Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat

The Guru Samman continued throughout the day, especially at the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat, where faculty members, department officials, and prominent city dignitaries honored Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot with shawls, garlands, and coconut offerings.

Those present included Registrar Dr. Tarun Shrimali, Dr. Kaushal Nagda, Dr. Paras Jain, Dr. Manju Mandot, Dr. Vijay Dalal, Dr. Chandresh Chhatlani, Dr. Aparna Srivastava, Dr. Sunita Murdia, Dr. Lalit Shrimali, Dr. Kul Shekhar Vyas, Dr. Dhamendra Rajoora, Dr. Yuvraj Singh Rathore, Dr. Neeru Rathore, Dr. Manish Shrimali, Dr. Bharat Singh Dewda, Dr. Dinesh Shrimali, Dr. Pradeep Singh Shaktawat, Dr. Dilip Chaudhary, and Jitendra Singh Chauhan among many others.
