#### Engineering the Future: Hindustan Zinc Leads with 55% of Executive Roles Held by Engineers

Udaipur,  Marking Engineers’ Day, Hindustan Zinc Limited (NSE: HINDZINC), the world’s largest and India’s only integrated zinc producer, celebrates the pivotal role of its engineers in driving the company’s transformation over the past five years. Engineers today make up 55% of the executive workforce at Hindustan Zinc, reflecting the company’s conviction that technical expertise, innovation, and problem-solving are the true engines of progress.
Over the last half-decade, the percentage of engineers in executive roles has steadily increased to 55% in 2025, by the company’s unique professional trajectory in fields such as engineering, metallurgy, mining, digitalization, supply chain, marketing, finance, and information technology. Hindustan Zinc currently employs over 1490 executive engineers, including more than 270+ women engineers who are contributing across underground mines, smelters, labs, and advanced technology teams. These women are breaking barriers in a traditionally male-dominated sector by leading India’s first women mine management teams, first all-women underground mine rescue teams, and by taking up key operational roles that are critical to the company’s success.

Further strengthening its talent pipeline, Hindustan Zinc recently welcomed 300 bright young professionals through its VLDP, GET, PGET, and MT programs from leading institutions across India, proudly referring to them as its #EchoesOfTomorrow. The company combines the agility of a startup with the resilience of an industry leader, offering career opportunities “from A to Z” — much like its core metals, silver (Ag) and zinc (Zn).

Speaking on the occasion, Arun Misra, CEO and Whole-Time Director, Hindustan Zinc, said: “Engineers are the backbone of Hindustan Zinc’s growth and transformation. Their spirit of innovation, technical excellence, and problem-solving is not only driving our success but also contributing to India’s ambition of becoming self-reliant and sustainable. On Engineers’ Day, we take pride in celebrating the men and women who are shaping the future of mining and metallurgy and inspiring the next generation to embrace careers in science and engineering.”

Adding to this, Kavita Meena, Mechanical Engineer in Sindesar Khurd Mine, said: “As an engineer at Hindustan Zinc learning is a loop. Upskilling, data-driven tools, and digitised, best-in-class equipment help us convert tough problems into on-ground solutions, lifting productivity and safety, growing our people, and serving customers better—while contributing to India’s economic development and nation-building.”

The contributions of engineers extend far beyond corporate and operational performance. At Hindustan Zinc, engineers are driving India’s transition towards sustainable and self-reliant industrial growth. From deploying tele-remote underground mining and real-time analytics to advancing automation, robotics, and decarbonization, engineers are ensuring that operations are not only more efficient and productive but also safer and environmentally responsible. By improving raw material security and supporting India’s climate goals, these professionals play a vital role in strengthening national competitiveness and building resilience in core industries.

Looking ahead, engineers will continue to play a pivotal role in Hindustan Zinc’s strategy to build sustainable operations and fulfil its ESG commitments. As a leading global producer of metals critical to high-tech applications, the company values diverse perspectives that drive stronger decision-making. This is reinforced by career growth opportunities, including night shifts, meaningful roles, and progressive workplace policies designed to empower employees. With one of India’s most diverse engineering workforces and a strong focus on digital and green innovations, Hindustan Zinc is not only strengthening its leadership in zinc and silver but also driving India’s long-term industrial and economic development.
