Kota Builds 215-Foot Ravan

Kota, The nationally acclaimed Kota Dussehra Fair is set to witness history this year as, for the first time, a towering effigy of Ravan, standing 215 feet high, is being constructed. The mammoth structure will take nearly four months to complete, with preparations already underway well in advance of the festival.

The project is being executed under the supervision of Guru Tejendra Chauhan of Ambala, a renowned master craftsman whose name is already inscribed in both the Guinness Book of World Records and the Limca Book of Records for creating some of the tallest Ravan effigies in India.

When our correspondent visited the fairground in Kota, a team of young artisans was seen working diligently under Chauhan’s guidance. Speaking to them, they shared that their mentor directs every stage of the process—from selecting bamboo to preparing the fabrics used for dressing the colossal figure.

Chauhan revealed that his team of 20 to 25 members has relocated from Ambala to Kota for the project. Each day, they devote 15 to 20 hours to the task, ensuring the effigy is completed in time for the festival. He emphasized that such an ambitious creation is not just a technical feat but also a matter of cultural pride for the city.
