Non-Surgical Procedure Extracts Over a Liter of Pus, Providing Relief to Liver Abscess Patient

Udaipur - The Medicine Department at Pacific Medical College and Hospital successfully saved a 41-year-old patient suffering from a liver abscess by extracting over a liter of pus from his liver, thus averting a potentially serious health condition in the future. The patient, Shanti Lal, a resident of Udaipur district, had been experiencing mild chest pain, pain in the right side of his abdomen, fever, tremors, and night sweats for the past six months. Despite seeking medical attention at several places, he found no relief.

The patient's family brought him to Pacific Medical College and Hospital, where he was examined by Dr. Veerendra Goyal of the Medicine Department. A sonography revealed a large abscess in the patient's liver, prompting immediate treatment.

Dr. Veerendra Goyal explained that with the assistance of the Radiology Department, a procedure was performed without surgery, where a pigtail catheter was inserted into the patient's liver to extract pus, totaling over a liter. Dr. Goyal emphasized that this condition affects only a few patients among millions. If left untreated, liver abscesses can be life-threatening and lead to serious health issues.

The patient has now fully recovered and has been discharged. The patient's family expressed their gratitude to Chairman Rahul Agrawal, the hospital management, and the medical team.
