Damaged Roads to be Repaired Before Diwali

Collector Instructs Departments for Beautification and Drainage

Sri Ganganagar. District Collector Dr. Manju on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review the condition of rain-damaged roads and directed officials to ensure speedy repair, beautification of squares and dividers, and proper drainage of rainwater. The meeting was attended by representatives of Urban Improvement Trust, Municipal Council, PWD, RUIDP, and other concerned departments.

The Collector instructed that all damaged roads in the district must be repaired well before Diwali. In addition to road repairs, cleanliness drives, functional street lighting, plantation, and beautification works should be prioritized. Departments were urged to work in coordination for timely completion. Reports of damages caused due to heavy rains were sought at the earliest, and it was directed that repair works be undertaken using funds available under disaster management provisions.

Special emphasis was laid on ensuring that damaged roads, whether within the guarantee period or otherwise, are quickly repaired to prevent inconvenience to the public. The Collector also instructed for water drainage solutions in flood-prone areas including Suratgarh Bypass, Jassasingh Marg, Gautam Buddha Nagar, and other localities. Departments were asked to expedite pending sewerage works to avoid recurring problems.

The Urban Improvement Trust was instructed to complete the drain construction project worth ₹2.15 crore at the earliest. Municipal bodies were also directed to ensure all streetlights are functional, replacing damaged lights immediately. For beautification of squares, dividers, and parks, the Municipal Council and UIT were asked to take effective steps and maintain quality standards.

The Collector gave clear directions that no waterlogging should occur at Government Senior Secondary School (Multipurpose), Collectorate Road, and Karni Marg underpass, and that comprehensive arrangements for rainwater drainage be ensured.

The meeting was attended by ADM (Administration) Subhash Kumar, SDM Gautam Nayan, Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Yadav, UIT Secretary Ashok Kumar Asija, PWD SE Bhimsen Swami, officials Mangat Setia, Surendra Poonia, and engineers from RUIDP, along with other concerned officers.
