Jaisalmer, As part of a special campaign aimed at providing consumers with pure and safe food products during the Diwali festival, Judicial Officer and Additional District Collector, Parsaram Saini, took strict action against the sale of substandard ghee. A total fine of ₹3,29,000 was imposed on Messrs Satvik Trading Company, Indane Gas Agency in Pokaran, Jaisalmer, and other establishments.

During an inspection by the Food Safety Officer, samples of ghee brands “Gai Desi Ghee (Shripayal)” and “Gai Ghee (Shree Aahar)” were collected from these establishments. The samples were sent to the Food Safety and Standards Laboratory, Jodhpur, for analysis. The laboratory report confirmed that both products were substandard, violating the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and related regulations.

Based on the report and evidence, the Food Safety Department filed a regular petition in the court of the Additional District Collector, Jaisalmer. After hearing, the Judicial Officer imposed a combined monetary penalty of ₹3,29,000 under Sections 26(2) and 51 of the Act.

The Additional District Collector stated that the sale of adulterated or substandard food products directly endangers public health, and strict action is being taken against such offenders. He urged all traders to sell only standard-compliant food products and to prioritize consumer safety.

He also warned that future violations or any evidence of substandard products during inspections could lead to license cancellation, prosecution, and higher monetary penalties.

This enforcement marks a strong step toward food safety and consumer protection in the district, promoting vigilance among traders and ensuring that the public receives pure, safe, and quality food products.
