Udaipur, Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot arrived in Udaipur on Saturday evening, where he was welcomed by Congress leaders and party workers at Maharana Pratap Airport in Dabok.

After his arrival, Gehlot visited the Fateh Sagar Lake promenade, where he met Congress workers over tea and held an informal interaction with them. City Congress president Fateh Singh Rathore and party workers from different parts of the district were present during the meeting.

The informal interaction provided an opportunity for Gehlot to directly engage with grassroots workers and take feedback on local political developments and organisational activities. Workers also shared their views and concerns with the senior Congress leader.

Focus on Upcoming Civic Elections

The discussions assumed significance against the backdrop of preparations for the upcoming municipal elections in Rajasthan. Party organisation, strengthening the Congress at the grassroots level and election preparedness were among the key issues discussed during the interaction.

Gehlot's meeting with workers at Fateh Sagar was seen as an effort to maintain direct contact with the party's grassroots network at a time when political activity is gaining momentum ahead of the civic polls.

The former chief minister also emphasised the importance of workers remaining active at the grassroots level and strengthening the organisation ahead of the upcoming electoral challenges.

Gehlot Raises Concern Over Rainfall Deficit

Gehlot's Udaipur visit also came amid his concerns over the rainfall situation in several parts of Rajasthan. In a recent statement, he said that drought-like conditions were emerging in several districts of the state due to inadequate rainfall.

He called upon the state government to take timely measures, including strengthening foodgrain stocks, ensuring drinking water availability, creating employment opportunities and making adequate fodder available for livestock.

Gehlot also pointed to rainfall deficiencies in districts including Udaipur and urged the government to prepare in advance to deal with the possible impact of inadequate monsoon rainfall.

Scheduled to Visit Pratapgarh

Gehlot stayed overnight in Udaipur and was scheduled to travel to Pratapgarh on Sunday to participate in a Congress public rally at Divak Mata as part of the party's Jan Aakrosh Yatra.

His brief interaction with Congress workers at Fateh Sagar, therefore, combined an informal public engagement with discussions on organisational and political issues. The visit has added momentum to political activities in Udaipur as parties prepare for the next phase of local electoral politics.
