NATHDWARA, Rajasthan Authorities in Rajsamand district exhumed the body of a 36-year-old man 46 days after his death following allegations by his wife that he had been murdered.

The man, identified as Suresh, 36, son of Prabhudas Rangaswami, a resident of Karai village under the Khamnor police station area, died on July 3. His body was buried according to local customs after his death.

The case took a new turn after his wife, Seema Devi, approached the Inspector General on July 29 and alleged that four people were responsible for her husband's death.

Acting on directions from senior police officials, Khamnor police registered a case of unnatural death and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Body Exhumed for Forensic Examination

As part of the investigation, police exhumed the body 46 days after it had been buried. A Forensic Science Laboratory team collected evidence and samples from the site, while a medical board conducted the post-mortem examination.

Following the forensic procedures, the body was handed over to the family and reburied.

Wife Alleges Assault Over Drinking in Temple

According to the complaint, Seema Devi alleged that her husband had opposed some people allegedly consuming alcohol at a temple. She claimed that he was subsequently assaulted and later died from injuries sustained in the incident.

Police are examining the allegations and collecting forensic and medical evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding Suresh's death.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on the findings of the forensic examination, post-mortem report and other evidence.
